Application Process

The application process varies slightly by location. Please contact your desired location for more information.

Every family can expect the following:

  1. Students are nominated to Challenge in 4th grade by a parent, teacher or community member.
  2. Students are tested in reading, math, and/or writing.
  3. Families submit both parent and student applications, which help us to identify social, emotional and financial need.
  4. Home visits with each family, allowing us to have an individualized conversation with each family to assess their needs and the parents’ ability to support their child’s academic success.
  5. Challenge candidates complete the same process as all other applicants to the independent schools with whom we work. This includes student and parent applications, essays, school visits and interviews, and financial aid applications.
  6. Final review and decision by Challenge Administrators.
